From a place of solitude…

I was rocking back and forth on my windsor chair giving recognition to the apparition of golden rays piercing through the hindering mosaic of tree leaves. The sight automatically swept my mind clean of all premonitions flooding it with positivity. Simultaneously, l was rhythmically stroking my head with my yellow pencil, coincidentally unshackling the most pertinent notions, shoving them out of concealment in the company of this insignia of hope.

Despite the ruckus up-stirred in my deepest core, l allowed myself to be drowned in the environment being utterly receptive of the gifts of nature. I allowed myself to be pampered into a thoughtful gesture devising every possible way out of the situation l had unwillingly found myself in. As I allowed every single muscle to go into an ephemeral slumber, giving utmost dominance to the cerebral hemisphere, l instantly found myself outsourcing feasible maneuvers over the hurdles clustered in my path.

As l was reminiscing over the significance of this miniature meditation, that is slowly infiltrating into becoming a concrete definition of who l am, l discovered that sometimes we just have to lay back oblivious of the fact that the world today is all so fast-paced. Not every situation needs us to put an action out there. Sometimes the only relevant action that may be needed, is laying back, watching from a spectator’s seat.

I know very well that it can be as hard as it can be because the first impulse consistent with human nature would be to swing into corrective action fully backed by an adrenaline rush sometimes backed by dopamine. In this situation, our normal reasoning tools are eliminated and our ability to respond is not spared either, enthroning the capability to react

Get it right! l am not encouraging people to be timid and whiny in face of the most overwhelming situations, rather the opposite is true. Allow your thoughts to frantically delve into the untapped world of possibilities soliciting some unrealized workable solutions because trust me in business just as in real life, black swans which are often inappropriately rationalized after the fact with the benefit of hindsight, have the animosity to cripple the most thriving set up.

Basically learn to lay back and then respond afterwards, only then can you act with a profound proficiency. It brings us back to this book l read, ‘The Way of the Superior Man’ by David Deida, it points out to the superiority of mastering the art of response over reaction in a clear cut context.

Response is the more sane and rational way of dealing with mind boggling situations. On the other hand, reaction is preconceived and automatically programmed set of actions that may not even be in coherence to the prevailing status quo. It adequately uncovers fault in every aspect.

So next time you are faced with a difficult situation, lay back, take your time to read into the situation from every perspective, sometimes the situation could be turned into a leverage after all! For more clarity, let’s take it to the Bible to that incident when Lazarus was raised from the dead (John 11:1-44).

According to John 11, Jesus receives a message that Lazarus is ill and his two sisters, Mary and Martha are seeking His help. According to normal human impulse, what would have been the most probable would have been for Jesus to take off at that instant considering that Lazarus was a good friend of His, instead what did He do?

In their mortal eyes, the situation was so overwhelming hence requiring prompt action. However the situation did not end in death, it ended in God’s Son being glorified through it!

I am not in any way implying that everyone has the powers to perform miracles, l am only alluding to the fact that everyone has the power of introspection. Introspection into every mind-boggling stalemate we may be faced with in life may bring a new limelight where we may cast the negatives into such irrefutable positives.

Next time lay back, think thoroughly, just choose to be indifferent to impulse and respond rather than react to a situation.
